Prominent Studio Designer Arrives to Clovis to Design and Construct Cutting-Edge Recording Studio

(Clovis, New Mexico) Friday, February 23, 2024—The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce and Clovis Economic Development (CED) cordially invite you to join them for a press conference that will be held March 4, 2024 at 3:30 pm in the Norman and Vi Petty Rock & Roll Museum, 105 E. Grand Ave. 

Distinguished Acoustician and Studio Designer Sam Berkow, will headline the Press Conference in Clovis. Berkow, along with his renowned company, SIA, boasts an illustrious portfolio, having contributed to the creation of premier music facilities globally, such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Hollywood Bowl, and the San Francisco Jazz Center. Their expertise extends to crafting recording studios for iconic artists, record labels, and municipalities throughout the United States. 

Clovis will also welcome Gold and Platinum recording engineer Mark Salamone, Emmy Award-Winning Producer/Composer Lance Bendiksen, and Local Electrical Engineer Jay Fisher to Collaborate on the project. 

Clovis resident Jay Fisher's story holds intriguing ties to music history. With his father serving as Norman Petty’s electrical engineer, the Fisher family shared a close bond with the legendary producer, whose legacy is enshrined in the Clovis Museum. Norman Petty's collaborations with top artists of his time, including Buddy Holly, played a pivotal role in shaping music history. The concerts organized by Petty, who also managed Holly, directly influenced iconic bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, catalyzing the British invasion and inspiring them to delve into songwriting. Now, this rich musical legacy will be revived in Clovis, with analog gear once again capturing the essence of music creation.

Clovis will break ground on March 4th on this innovative recording studio, honoring the its past legacy by utilizing the original equipment used to record top hits from the past. The new facility will seamlessly blend iconic analog gear from the era of hits like “Rave On” and "Peggy Sue" with cutting-edge digital technology. Anticipation is high as established bands and emerging talents from both near and far eagerly await the studio's opening. Interest from industry luminaries such as Bruce Springsteen's longtime engineer, Toby Scott, is already generating buzz across social media and beyond.
